Thankful Thursday

I'm feeling pretty grumps today- so this is a good exercise for me.

1.  Monsoon Rains!  In the Sonoran desert we are blessed with not one, but two rainy season, the best of those is in the summer.  Tucsonans get obsessed with dew points, humidity levels and clouds- three things we pay no attention to at all the rest of the year.  Last night, after a few days of very promising weather, the rains came with force to my house.  At 3:15 I was awake listening to thunder, watching lightning and loving the rhythm of the rain falling.  I woke up again at 6:00 and could still hear the rain.  My drive to work today was filled with puddles and  wet roads!

2.  Tucson in the summer.  I've said it before, but the Old Pueblo in the summer is magical.  UA students go, snow birds flock north and even year-round residents travel away.  So those of us who stay, benefit.  Our city slows to a town.  You can always get into your favorite restaurant and usually benefit from their summer specials menu.  Last night was the perfect summer night in Tucson.  I picked up D$ from work, we went to our favorite funky grocery store and ran into friends there.  We then went to our favorite downtown bar and ran into 3 more friends there.  After a quick dinner, and seeing a few more friends, we headed home to drink wine in our backyard and watch the monsoons roll in!

3.  Summer fruits and veggies.  I love the abundance of fresh fruits and veggies.  I can't get enough of tomatoes, plums, asparagus (just another week or so), zucchini, melons, apples, berries etc.
