birthday surprise!

Nobody loves their b-day more than me.  Usually.  In years past, I am unabashedly obnoxious about the whole ordeal.  I send out memos, countdowns and generally just nudge everybody into acknowledging MY day.  This year I was feeling really blah about it.  I turned down offers to celebrate and just wanted the day to come and go.  When my day arrived I did enjoy it,  I got a special work b-day breakfast, I got a nap, had lunch with my pals and a lovely dinner made by D$.  I felt good and loved and happy on Wednesday.  The end.

On Saturday D$ and I were hosting a house warming party.  or so I thought.  D$ had contacted everyone who was coming to what I thought was a house warming party (with Jenn's help- thanks Jenn) to let them know it was in fact a birthday party for me.  And  surprise.  He pulled it off wonderfully.  As did my friends.  No one let it slip, no one tipped me off.  It was wonderful!

 It was a fun evening showing off the house to our friends and being showered with more birthday love! Having walked into this year grumpy and not excited- it certainly was the best birthday I've had in a long time.  I am amazed by my husband and his ability to pull this off (and to not let it slip).  Honeslty- I don't always give him the credit he deserves, but after this great weekend, I owe him a lot more credit and appreciation.
