Las Vegas Weekend

I felt just like George Clooney watching the fountains!

The first weekend in March, I met up with my oldest, dearest friend, A, for her birthday weekend in Las Vegas!  Neither of us had ever been- so we jumped at the chance to meet each other in a new, fun, sin-filled city.  A lives in New York, and if I'm lucky I see her once a year.  I was really honored when I got the call asking me to join her!

Before the race!  It is so cold in the desert in the morning, we needed Snuggies to keep us warm before moving!
A is a runner too, although a much better runner than me, so the impetus for the trip was to run a half-marathon in Red Rocks Canyon, just outside of Las Vegas.

Pre-race Sunrise.

The run was grueling, the first 7 miles were all up hill.  I am not exaggerating this point.  And the last 6 miles were all mostly up hill too.  It was not the best half marathon I've ever run, but it was great to see A's smiling face at the end!

Red Rocks Canyon.  Hills, hills and more hills!

My finishers medal!

After an afternoon of relaxing we went to L'Atelier Joel Robuchon for a celebratory/birthday dinner.  It was an amazing culinary feast (reveiw is next).

This guy really wanted his picture taken with me.  I oblige the people.

A little more than 36 hours after we arrived we were on our ways on seperate flights in different directions- it was a whirlwind weekend!
