Boycotting for naught

For years I was a loyal Amazon customer and then they really started to piss me off.  I remember one particular incident, which happened to be my last purchase on Amazon, in December 2008: a package of Christmas gifts was never shipped, my credit card was charged double and little was done to rectify the situation.  The package finally arrived 36 days AFTER Christmas

That was when I drew the line in the sand: Never will I shop at Amazon again.  And I haven't for 2 years.  (I did get a Real Simple subscription for $5 from Amazon- but I made D$ order and pay  for it).

However my boycott hasn't slowed down Amazon's business.  I'm sure their "Customer Service" is as deplorable as ever despite my many letters, calls and complaints to the Better Business Bureau.  In fact, D$ may be their number 1 customer.  He buys everything from there.  He shops and then finds the item on Amazon for cheaper and purchases from them.

My mom mails all my birthday and Christmas gifts from Amazon.  My mother-in-law shops and gives from there.

All my boycotting has been for naught.  Business with Amazon has been done in my name every time my mom buys a gift from there to ship to me.  As the holiday season is upon us, I'm wondering if I just shouldn't give up the ghost and log back into Amazon.

  1. It's too bad that Amazon's been so disappointing to you. I hate poor customer service. I've never had a problem with them but I bet there are lot of other people who like you have had issues.
